How to Find Time to Learn
Did you know that if you drive 25,000 miles per year,
you spend the equivalent of 13 40-hour weeks behind
the wheel? Imagine how much you could learn if you
were listening to audio programs instead of talk radio!
That's a full-time one semester academic program.
That could be your best way to change yourself.
Here's a good place to start. I've got a few copies of Bob Proctor's
"Science of Getting Rich" at a substantial discount. You get
6 CDs and a complete workbook to take you through the most
powerful program on business that I know of. You'll learn how to
make your business irresistible and turn customers into raving
fans. Bob Proctor explains it all here and shows you how.**

Don't Make This Mistake!
"In times of change, the learners will inherit the Earth"
- - Eric Hoffer
There's a lot of people who think that when we get
this financial crisis straightened out, things will go
back to the way they've always been.
I hope you're not one of them!
Because there are many parts of this crisis that
are the result of major changes in our world and
our work, and if you're not preparing yourself for
the changes, you're likely to get left behind.
One industry where these changes are evident is
the automotive business, and the essential failures
of GM and Chrysler are the predictable results of
ignoring change.
These companies failed to recognize the newer
drive for fuel efficiency and hybrids, and the
declining demand for beefy trucks. But it wasn't
just the management!
The labor unions failed to recognize the international
nature of the car business and the fact that there
are lots of very skilled people willing to work for
much less. So, little by little, the jobs have gone.
So what has been their reaction? It's been expressed
quite accurately by writer William F Buckley Jr who
said, “A conservative is a fellow who is standing
athwart history yelling "Stop!"”
I think he meant it jokingly, but in any event we can
see that it's not a very effective strategy. We can't
tell history to stop. The auto employees are like
typewriter repairmen in 1980. They don't realize that
the world has changed and their skills aren't
needed and their high pay is gone.
I don't want you to make that mistake! Here's a
better approach.
30 years ago the smart typewriter repair person didn't
yell "Stop!" at history. He spent his own time and
money to learn about word processors, and then
computers. His business never missed a beat, while
typewriters disappeared from offices and the ones who
just complained about it went broke.
Take a look around you and see which way the world
is going. Figure out how it's going to afffect you and
get in FRONT of the change so you don't get trampled
by it.
Read some good books by futurists like Malcolm
Gadwell and Seth Godin, and look for trends. I like
Dan Pink's book "A Whole New Mind" because he's
laid out what the smart people need to be learning.
Left brain analytical skills are a cheap commodity now
and holistic thinking is the wave of the future.
As Eric Hoffer said, "In times of change, the learners
will inherit the Earth." Be a learner. Let others waste
their time yelling "Stop!" at history. You can look for
opportunities and thrive!
Here's to making friends with change,
Wes
