Lead Article
"Never Work Hard Again"
"If someone is working hard, it means only one thing – that
that person didn’t use his intelligence, or his creativity, or
his light-heartedness to find an easier, more enjoyable,
more effective way of doing the same thing. Hard work
should be avoided at all costs...Workaholics are lame.
Playaholics got game." - - Fred Gratzon
Here in the United States today is the Labor Day holiday,
created to celebrate the contributions of the workers, so
it seemed like a good time to talk about work.
Especially about hard work. I want you to stop it.
I know, I was taught the same bunch of "stuff" about
work that you probably were. "Hard work is the way
to success, nothing was ever accomplished without it"
and so forth.
What did following that advice ever get you, besides tired?

If you've been reading this newsletter for a while you know
that I keep encouraging you to follow your passions, find
your purpose, and only do what you love to do. I believe
that is the only way to real success, which I define as a
balanced, prosperous, healthy, satisfying life.
I love the way Jack Canfield describes this in "The Secret".
He says, "The way to success is the path of joy. I only do
things now that bring me joy."
How many things are YOU doing, right now in your life, that
don't bring you joy? What would your life be like if you
stopped? Would you be willing to set an intention, choose a
goal, that would get you to that place of only doing what
brings you joy? When will you do that?
What are the excuses that your mind brings up when you
think about it? They sound really valid, but they're just
excuses. You can do it, if you're willing to commit to it.
I'm inspired by the example set by Steve Irwin, the
Australian "Crocodile Hunter", who radiated passion
and enthusiasm and who never "worked" a day in his
life. His tragic accidental death this weekend does not
diminish the fact that he exemplified the idea of
following your passion in your work, and his passion
strongly benefitted wildlife conservation worldwide.
Like Irwin, your passion is the key to your gift to the world
and it's also the key to living your life without hard work!
That would be better, wouldn't it?
So how do you discover your passion and purpose? Well,
I'm working on a program to help you with that, but in the
meantime, just dream! Get yourself a hammock and lay
back and just dream about how your life would be if it was
perfect. You do know the answer, it's just buried.
For more inspiration on this subject, check out "The Lazy
Guy" himself, Fred Gratzon. He built several million dollar
companies, one being named the #2 fastest growing
company in the USA, and he did it without hard work.
He says, "Hard work is not the formula to success. If you
think it is, then you have been misled. If you are espousing
it, then you are misleading others."
Check out his blog and his
book. You can also get the ebook version of his book, too.
I highly recommend his books. I'll leave you to this last
thought from Fred. "The formula is simple: When the goal is
inspiring, the activity that is required to fulfill the goal
becomes irresistible."
To your effortless success,
Wes
