I've Got a Secret
The other night my wife and I sat absolutely mesmerized
as we watched a new, full length movie on DVD that was
different than anything we've ever seen. It was so well done
and so powerful that even though we were familiar with the
subject matter, we were glued to our seats. I told Sandy
afterwards that this movie just might change the world
but if it doesn't, it will still change anyone who watches it.
So what's it about? It's a tour though history, at first,
revealing the secret that has been known and practiced
by the rich and powerful through the ages that has enabled
them to create their success.
It has been taught by many great teachers and philosophers
and is contained in the principles of many great books, but
this secret remains completely hidden from the public.
In the movie, 52 people, some famous, some not, share
how the secret works and how they have used it. There
are people who started in street gangs, or alcoholic
families, or were homeless and living in their car who
are millionaires from using the secret. The most inspiring
story was the guy who almost died in a plane crash and
was told that he would spend the rest of his life on
machines, blinking his eyes to communicate. In less than
a year, using the secret, he confounded the doctors by
walking out of the hospital!
The first time through, Sandy and I just watched, in
awe, as the movie unfolded. The second time through,
though, we took notes! You will, too.
I don't get anything if you buy this DVD. I bought it at
retail just like you and it's the best $30 I ever spent.
I just want you to get it.

PS - For some reason if you're in AU or NZ you can't
buy it yet. You can watch it online for a small fee.

"Many people who have great talent remain poor, while
others who have very little talent get rich." - - Wallace Wattles
It seems that a lot of people don't follow their passion
and dreams in life because they don't feel that they have
the talent that is required. Wallace Wattles tells us that
innate native talent for your work is not required. Is
Wattles right? If so, does that mean that you don't need
to be good at what you do?
We all would probably say that you do need to be good at
what you do. Wattles says later in "The Science of
Getting Rich" that if you don't have talent, you can develop
it because we all have a small amount of talent for anything
that we can grow into mastery. It seems like it might be a
real challenge to do that, though, so is there any evidence
that you can?
In the August, 2006 issue of Scientific American magazine,
an article titled "The Expert Mind" answers this question. For
years scientists have been studying what makes people
experts, and they have used chess players as their subjects.
In chess, the top players are called grandmasters and the
study shows clearly what gets them to that level.
Is it talent? The article says. "this belief in the importance of
innate talent, strongest perhaps among the experts themselves
and their trainers, is strangely lacking in hard evidence to
substantiate it."
The study concludes "The preponderance of psychological
evidence indicates that experts are made, not born." So how
do we make ourselves into experts? It appears that we do it
by dedicated study and practice, and it takes about 10 years
of serious work to become a master in any field.
Let's draw the logical conclusion from this - we can become
a world class master in anything we want, if we are willing to
put in the 10 years of hard work to get there. What kind of a
person would do this? Only a person who wanted it really,
really badly. In other words, it would have to be your passion!
And, sure enough, the article concludes that "motivation
appears to be a more important factor than innate ability in
the development of expertise."
This is why I keep writing about the importance of desire,
commitment and passion for your work. Follow your heart,
don't try to follow the money. Master sales trainer Jeffrey
Gitomer says it took him a long time to become excellent
in sales. He says, "Goodness and mastery evolve -- IF you
decide you want to master the science, IF you have a positive
attitude, and IF you believe in and love what you're selling."
That's the formula - a committed decision, belief in yourself
and a passion for what you do. Are you following your passion
for what you really want? If not, when do you plan to start?
Today would be a very good day for it. Actually, it's the only
day you can ever start.
To your motivated success,
Wes
